As we approach Christmas and the holiday season I want to reconnect with what is truly important. When I was growing up in Spur Tree Jamaica, Christmas had a feeling all its own, it was like a fever! I remember the excitement to play with my cousins, see my aunts and our friends during the time when everyone makes the effort to reconnect. I cannot remember receiving a gift from my family except new clothes for Christmas and pocket money for Grand Market night however the feeling that I felt during those times when there was nothing but love and festivity all around can never be replaced by the most expensive gift.

There is so much that goes unsaid but the truth that has been proven over and over again is that if you give a girl a chance you can change a family and by extension a community. read more
Introducing the “Mission…Brave Girl”

In that moment it seems like total defeat, you feel like you can never recapture the flow, but how many of us have gotten up from those moments and realized that what we created next was even better than what we had before? That is exactly what happened after I walked out of the studio on that rainy night. I felt dejected and worthless, but I had to get up again and what I created next was “The Brave Girl Movement. read more
